Subject: A love letter from David
I have spent a lot of time listening to this show. There are drop dead gorgeous versions of four of my favorite Dead songs: Brokedown, Stella, Loser and Attics. The Last 1/2 of set two just plain cooks. Loser, River and Drown and the mega opus: (new Hunter/Gans song) -Like a Dog -> Terrapin Station -> An American Family -> What's So Funny About Peace Love and Understanding? It is just plain brilliant.
I tend to look at this show as a long, compellingly complicated love letter to America, kinda like I love you but am very concerned about the state of your health. As such it's is pretty salacious and right on the mark!
A truely great show from beginning to end.

Subject: Twisted Love Songs
A funky Valentine from David Gans with a nice mix of originals and covers, some more twisted than others. Very sweet showcase for a brand new tune, I Have Always Lived Here. David is clearly comfortable at Stella Blue's, and it comes through in a pretty strong performance. Good sound, well-chosen set list, and a fun ending to Monica Lewinsky - an ultimately twisted love song.
